Police have named the woman killed in two-car crash on State Highway 8, near Lawrence, on Friday night.
She was Emily Anne Marshall (20), a United Kingdom citizen who was living in Central Otago.
The crash happened about 7pm on Friday, and police said weather conditions appeared to be a contributing factor.
It was raining at the time and it appeared a vehicle travelling towards Milton slid in the wet conditions as it rounded a corner and collided with a vehicle travelling towards Lawrence.
Two other people were hurt in the crash, with one suffering moderate injures and the other minor.
Police inquiries into the crash are continuing.
