About 90 curlers took part in the mini bonspiel, vying for one of the country's oldest sporting trophies.

Cold temperatures are making a national bonspiel early next week a hot prospect.

Naseby Curling Council president Jock Scott said the Naseby venue held up well yesterday, and ice was also building up on the Idaburn Dam, near Oturehua.
