Three people were moderately injured in a crash near Roxburgh yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said they were called to the scene at the intersection of Fruitlands-Roxburgh Rd and Roxburgh-East Rd, on State Highway8, at 6.45pm.

A helicopter was called for the injured alongside an ambulance because of the remote location of the crash. An ambulance and two police cars were at the scene.

The NZ Transport Agency advised SH8 was closed and a diversion was in place.

One of the two vehicles involved had been carrying fruit, which was scattered across the road.
