A group charged with looking at ways to provide affordable housing in Central Otago has joined the Housing Corporation of New Zealand (HCNZ) to seek funding for further investigation.
Central Otago Affordable Housing chairwoman Lynley Claridge said the group would be exploring ways of providing affordable housing for people who aspired to owning their own homes but who could not raise sufficient capital to buy in Central Otago.
The group had met HCNZ Otago regional manager Shane Chisholm and key staff.
Now, the next step would be to meet Queenstown Lakes District Council staff to find out how the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust operated, Mrs Claridge said.
Group members are Lynley Claridge chairwoman, with Kate Scott, Alison Hayes, Russell Ibbotson, John Symons, Charlie Harrex, Lou Saladino, Richard Koehler, Shaun McLellan and Steve Potter.
Central Otago District Council business development manager Jonathan Gadd also has some input.
