Crash investigation

The motorcycle and car involved in a fatal crash at Bannockburn will be examined tomorrow as part of the police investigation.

Karamea man Paul Kidd (46) received critical injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car on Cairnmuir Rd on Monday night and died while being airlifted to Dunedin Hospital for treatment.

The sole occupant of the car, a man who worked in the Bannockburn area, was uninjured.

The motorcycle and car would be examined by Vehicle Testing New Zealand staff tomorrow ''to establish if any vehicle fault may have contributed to the accident'', Detective Dean Schroder, of Cromwell, said.

It was too soon to determine the cause, he said.
