More than $8 million of spending has been earmarked for projects arising from the Cromwell master plan, after Cromwell Community Board members approved the draft figures.

The money - which would come from reserves, and not impact on rates - will now be included in the draft Central Otago District Council 2019-20 annual plan.

Board members at yesterday's board meeting were told $3.5 million had been budgeted for design work and $4.9 million for property and land purchases for projects arising from the master plan.

Council planning and environment executive manager Louise van der Voort said the estimated spending needed to be included in this stage of the annual plan process, but the detail of proposed spending would only come after the master plan was completed.
