Hundreds of people from the wider Central Otago district attended the day, which included displays by police, search and rescue, St John Ambulance, Clyde Coastguard, the Alexandra Volunteer Fire Brigade, Civil Defence and other agencies and groups.
''In a small community like this, there's so many services that all work together if there's an emergency, so it's appropriate that they'd join forces for a day like this,'' Central Otago police sub area supervisor Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said.
Alexandra Clyde Neighbourhood Support came up with the idea of the open day, which was held in Pioneer Park. Group trustee Ruth McNamara was delighted with attendance, hoping it could become an annual event.
Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago district councils emergency management officer Trevor Andrews said it was timely after the national quake drill last week. He manned a quake simulator.
