Wakatipu Girl Guides and Brownies are heading out in force this month to sell as many Guide biscuits as possible.

About 40 girl guides and brownies will sell the biscuits as part of their annual fundraiser.

The biscuits have helped raise funds for Girl Guiding New Zealand for the past 53 years.

More than 40% of the sales go to the group selling the biscuits.

On a national level, the funds are used for programme development, subsidised training for girls, leader support and development and the provision of resources.

Between 1 and 1.7 million packets of biscuits, made by Griffins, are sold annually.

They biscuits come in three varieties: plain, chocolate and mini chocs.

The last-named have been a big hit.

The Wakatipu girls will sell biscuits at the New World Supermarket on March 6.
