A 24-year-old Mt Maunganui bar worker from has been charged with assault after a man was found badly beaten outside a strip club.
He had been charged with common assault but more serious charges were likely to follow, police said.
The victim, 30, remains in a serious condition in Tauranga Hospital with chest and head injuries after the attack in Bounty Lane, Mt Maunganui, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
