An Israeli newspaper is reporting that the military will use massive force if necessary to demolish any structures built illegally during a temporary government moratorium on settlement construction in the West Bank.
The Yediot Ahronot daily quoted a military document detailing the plan today. It reports that soldiers will isolate areas set for demolition and jam cell phone signals to keep protesters out.
The military would not confirm the report.
The government announced the 10-month construction ban last month to help jump-start peace talks with the Palestinians. Settlers have vowed to defy the ban, and frequently clash with government inspectors trying to enforce it.
