Brindsmead, who has not raced for 14 months, won a trial at Motukarara yesterday.
Trainer Jamie Gameson put the Sokys Atom mare aside in March last year after she had won at Waterlea from six starts. He felt she need time to mature.
"The owners were good about it and the long lay-off has helped a lot," Gameson said.
Brindsmead returned a sharp final sprint from last for Blair Orange, to win by three-quarters of a length on a slushy track. Brindsmead will return to Blenheim this month.
Trainer Cran Dalgety qualified 2yr-old pacers One Cool Dude and Spero Denario.
One Cool Dude is a gelded son of In The Pocket and Sonja Hanover, the dam of Critical Judge, winner of 10 races in New Zealand.
Speco Denario is a gelding by Presidential Ball and the first foal of Dreamo Denario, winner of four races and a half-sister to Fake Denario, a useful winner in New Zealand and Australia.
The Moment qualified as a trotter yesterday when he won his test by 40 lengths.
The son of Armbro Invasion and Now's The Moment trained by John Hower, is a half-brother to Moment Of Truth and closely related to Take A Moment, whose 39 wins included two Dominion Handicaps and a Rowe Cup.
• Party Girl Becqui, fourth in the 3yr-old filly section of the harness jewels at Cambridge last Saturday, has joined the Pukekohe stable of Steve Reid.
She was driven by Reid when she won at Alexandra Park in December. She was then trained by John McKenzie, of Ohoka.
