In a similar powerhouse display, Caversham retained top position with a crushing 7-0 win over University at Logan Park, and Roslyn Wakari needed a last minute goal to draw 3-3 with Northern at Forrester Park.
The keenly awaited battle of equals between Technical and Mosgiel was mostly one way traffic, as coach Aaron Burgess' side swarmed over the Plainsmen and took out a mortgage on the midfield.
''We adopted a high line of defence, made sure that their key man Eder Franchini was tightly marked and our midfield had a top collective game,'' Burgess said.
Technical won a swag of corners and free kicks, allowing defenders like Matt Joy to move forward and join the equally tall Josh Stewart in Mosgiel's goal area.
But if Mosgiel's midfield was misfiring, its defence battled bravely, with keeper Zane Green marshalling his blue line of resistance. As a unit, Michael Bu, Hamish Cotter, Jesse Wright and Tom Kindly repelled waves of Technical attack.
Considering Technical's wealth of possession, Mosgiel's defence did well to achieve a 0-0 scoreline at halftime.
Eventually, the hard running pace of Taylor McCormack and Tim McLennan created gaps and they delivered crosses that were meat and drink for Stewart, who opened the scoring after 57 minutes.
Stewart added a second goal and also hit Mosgiel's woodwork to justly earn Technical's man of the match award.
Mosgiel created few chances, even with Regan Coldicott poised and Cody Brook penetrating, and its finishing was poor.
Even more disappointing for coach Andrew Brook, his midfield lacked bite and did not win enough second phase possession.
''We had a lesson handed to us,'' Brook said.
''We were on the back foot for most of the game and they were worth the win. But we are still a good young footballing side and we will bounce back.''
Technical's Justin Flaws capped a fine midfield display with a sizzling shot that beat keeper Green. Then it was Alistair Rickerby against a bedraggled defence as he went round Mosgiel's keeper and rang down the curtain with an 88th minute goal.
A Tom Jackson hat trick spearheaded Caversham's 7-0 win over University. Tore Waechter scored twice, and Mike Hogan and Seamus Ryder added to the goal tally.
Northern took an early lead at Forrester Park from a Dave Henderson penalty, but Cam Attwood opened Roslyn's account and Patrick Ebanda laced in a goal to put Roslyn ahead.
Northern equalised through a Jack Rea header and scored what appeared to be the winning goal through Greg Thurlow.
It looked like despair for Roslyn coach Colin Thom, but with the referee's whistle about to be blown, Attwood scored the equaliser with a far post header.
Today's Chatham Cup matches will keep the pot boiling as local ties feature the battered and bruised University side again playing Caversham, and Roslyn Wakari hosting Dunedin Technical.
Mosgiel travels to Timaru to play West End, and Mornington travels to play Timaru Hearts.
In the women's national knockout cup, Dunedin Technical plays Varsity at Tahuna Park.
