Football or football?: Looks like we're still lumped with football, American-style. But it's time to take football back.

What's new: Improved ball physics, manual passing, better AI tactical awareness, and a new mode called "Become A Legend".

Exclusive feature: Champions League.

Licensed leagues: Ligue 1 (France), Eredivisie (Netherlands), Serie A (Italy).

What, no Premier League?: Afraid not. Only Liverpool and Manchester United are fully licensed. All other clubs have fake names and players, though you can edit them.

National sides: More than 20. No All Whites.

Cover boy: The "new Maradona", Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The good: "There's no doubting that PES 2009 is the most fun football game on the market." - IGN UK.

The bad: "When put up against the competition, PES feels outdated and crude, crumbling under the weight of expectation that each annual iteration brings." - D Pad Magazine.

Pro Evo or Fifa?: Still a personal choice, though Fifa has clearly improved at a quicker rate.

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
