A German tramper believed to have been missing in the Manapouri area has contacted police.
Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said tonight the woman saw a photo of herself this evening on a Facebook page this evening and immediately contacted the Dunedin police.
Fears for her safety were raiised after she failed to meet her arranged water taxi at 6.30pm on Thursday, and a search was launched.
Snr Sgt Butterfield said the tramper left the Manapouri Area before her scheduled water taxi arrived, and had since been travelling around the lower South Island.
