Emergency services are searching for a person reported missing in the water at Bethells Beach.
A police spokesman said staff at the popular west Auckland beach were speaking to friends of the person reported missing.
Meanwhile, a person has been pulled from the surf at a beach in Whananaki, Northland.
"They had been in trouble but they're okay," the spokesman said.
