An award-winning Australian country singer will perform in Mosgiel this Sunday as part of the Young Guns Tour.

Alice Benfer (21) was scouted by BGS Promotions founder Bruce Kempton after she played at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January.

Miss Benfer grew up on a farm in Gympie, Queensland. In 2012, she received the Award for ''Best New Talent in Queensland'' at the Gold Medallion Media Awards.

Miss Benfer said she was excited to be touring the South Island and it was good to perform for a different audience.

She would perform songs during the tour, including a few she had written herself, and would also yodel.

She joined three other young country music talents from New Zealand to perform in Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru and Gore before the finale in Mosgiel this weekend.

The Mosgiel Young Guns Tour show is at Hotel/Motel Taieri at 1.30pm. Tickets, $20, from Debbies Clothing Alterations, BGS Promotions or the venue.
