The Outram School administration block needs a new roof and the contract is up for tender.
The block, which contains the office, staffroom and principal's office, has had a leaky roof for some time.
Acting principal Amber Paterson said the leaks were because the building was old.
The school had had a temporary fix done.
However, the roof needed more than that, she said.
School pupils would not be affected.
The Ministry of Education had recognised there was a problem and provided funding for the work.
According to the Ministry of Education's advertising, main contractors were invited to submit registrations of interest.
The project involved removing and recladding walls identified as leaky, plus
removal of all flat roofs and reconstructing to falls with Corrugate covering, as well as work on all associated gutters.
The approximate value of the work was $120,000.
It was to be carried out in December 2014 and January 2015. Applications closed on Monday.
Outram school celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2010.
It caters to pupils from new entrants to year 8.
The school has a role of 215, and nine full-time classrooms.
