Grant Sheehan has done a splendid job of capturing this in his coffee-table publication which is as much about moody sea and sky landscapes with lighthouses in them as it is about the lighthouses themselves.
His accompanying text records the history of each lighthouse plus interesting events that occurred preceding the building of the lighthouse or dramas during its working life.
Detailed photographic exposure data could open a new field endeavour for budding photographers as a number of daylight-looking images are in fact taken by moonlight with long exposures, while information about how to access each lighthouse may give the reader some new and interesting day trips as most are located close to civilisation.
