East Otago High School bowler Ethan Simpson sends down a delivery to South Otago High School batsman Tom Houghton during a McCullum Cup match at Bayfield Park yesterday. Dion Willocks watches from the other end and the umpire is Con Ratten.

The McCullum Cup is a new joint venture between Otago Cricket and cricket website CricHQ to introduce twenty/20 cricket to the region's secondary schools. Ten teams are contesting the inaugural tournament.

South Otago High School managed 94 for seven but East Otago High School reached the target with six wickets in hand. South Otago did not fare much better in the afternoon, suffering an eight-wicket loss to Taieri College.

In other games, Pelichet Bay demolished Taieri College by nine wickets.

Otago Boys' Blue was too good for James Hargest College, winning by 149 runs. John McGlashan College beat East Otago by 10 runs, Kings beat Waitaki Boys' by 33 runs, and OBHS White needed 11 runs off the last over to beat Pelichet Bay but could only manage eight runs.
