The Waitaki Ski Club is hoping to keep its Awakino skifield open until early October because of late snowfalls.
The skifield had hoped to open in early June but a lack of snow delayed the opening until mid-August.
Club secretary David Campbell said that with a good 60cm snow cover now, the slopes had been "even more popular" than usual, and the volunteer-run skifield would be extending the season for an extra two weekends.
