But while the rain came down it did not dampen spirits at the annual Arrowtown Long Lunch.
Multi Events co-ordinator Wendy Alfeld said it was a complete success and 680 tickets were sold. Organisers set out tables along Buckingham St from 7am, but by 11.30am the decision was taken to move the event inside.
Guests found seats either inside one of the 12 participating local restaurants or the Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall. An auction was held towards the end of the day to raise funds for Arrowtown Promotion and Business Association. A painting by Graham Brinsley sold for $6000 and one by Mitch Watchorn for $3900.
