Opposite Sex cite influences including the Velvet Underground, Half Japanese and the Beatles, with a little bit of Gothic rockabilly and classic post-punk Undertones/ Buzzcocks-style pop.
Opposite Sex are Lucy Hunter (vocals, bass, piano, keyboards), Fergus Taylor (guitar), and Tim Player (drums, vocals, keyboards).
The band came together in 2010 in Gisborne.
In February this year Opposite Sex played in Gisborne with Dunedin underground band The Puddle.
Opposite Sex were then invited to record at Fishrider Studio in Dunedin. The album was recorded by The Puddle's Ian Henderson and mixed by Tom Bell.
New Zealand and international artists have come together to produce a fundraiser track for Haiti charity the Kenbe La Foundation.
Kenbe La (Haitian for "never give up") was set up by New Zealander Emily Sanson-Rejouis, who lost her husband and two of their three daughters in the 2010 quake.
She established the foundation to help support schools in the area.
The single, called Never Give Up, is a collaboration of musicians: Paul Dodge, of Minuit, wrote the music and asked Nelson-based MC Luke Epapara, aka The Kurnel MC, to write and perform the verses, while Lisa Tomlins (Fly My Pretties/Fat Freddy's Drop) sings the "Kenbe La" hook.
The track was mixed by Minuit bandmate Ryan Beehre.
The single incorporates three languages, English, French and Haitian Creole.
Earlier this year, Paul Dodge went to Haiti with Emily Sanson-Rejouis, who had been living in the country with her family when the earthquake hit in 2010.

Soulware is a five-piece live electronic act from the South Island. The music they create has been described as lush, textured and thought-provoking, combining elements of dubstep, drum 'n' bass, trip-hop, dub electronica, blues and rock.
Soulware's debut album Return to the Source was released this week, and the band is due to tour the country early next year.
Soulware are Jono Leask, Nick Garraway, Donelle Manihera, Thomas McGrath and Harry Bretherton.
Following the release of his new critically acclaimed album Ashes & Fire, Ryan Adams (right) will perform a series of one-man theatre shows across Australia and New Zealand next year.
The songwriter and musician will play at the Regent Theatre, in Dunedin, on Tuesday, March 6.
Tickets go on sale on November 14.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of influential New Zealand music label Flying Nun, a tribute concert at Chick's Hotel, Port Chalmers, tonight will feature F in Math and Alphabethead as well as Two Cartoons, Idiot Prayer, Killmore Girls and Murderbike.
The fun continues next week, The Bats marking the release of new album Free All The Monsters with a concert at the Urban Factory, Dunedin, on Friday, November 11, supported by The Puddle and Dear Time's Waste.
