How to lift the Clutha District out of the "boom-bust cycle" of relying on seasonal employment is one of the issues Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan will discuss in a "state of the region-vision address" tonight.
The address, organised by the Otago Chamber of Commerce, is to let chamber members hear the mayor's "thoughts and visions for the future of the region".
Mr Cadogan said he wanted to raise several ideas, stimulating year-round employment being one.
"If I have to take an overview, an economic view, I don't believe the Clutha district will be able to reach a higher level until the boom-bust cycle ends," he said.
