Tickets are now on sale for the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra's second celebration of the Dunedin Sound.
The show comes after a sold out 2015 show, which was widely praised by both the public and those in the music industry.
Tally Ho! 2 organiser Dr Downes said the significance of the show had increased following the death of show co-organiser and Dunedin music identity Roy Colbert in July.
''There were odd moments when I was working away and this quiet voice in your head goes 'bugger!' because it would have been so cool for him to have been there to see it.''
The men began working on the show a few months after the first show in 2015, Dr Downes said.
The structure of the show would resemble a ''Dunedin Proms'' as Mr Colbert envisioned.
''He heard all but about two of the songs before he passed away so he knew the structure it was going to take and how most things would sound.''
The show would open with a rendition of the Clean's Tally Ho! and close with Submarine Bells, by The Chills.
What songs would make up the rest of the show would be left for the audience to find out on the night, Dr Downes said.
Everything at next month's show would be bigger, including the symphony's performances.
Orchestrating music that had such significance to Dunedin and the development of underground music throughout the world was a privilege, he said.
The lyrics of some songs had been tweaked with the permission of the artists so they could be best performed by the singers on the night.
He hoped Dunedin, particularly the city's younger music fans, would support the show.
