Golf: Geary second in Canada

New Zealand golfer Josh Geary settled for second place after being run down by Kent Eger in the final round of the Seaforth Country Classic in Canada today.

Canadian Eger stormed home with birdies on four of his five last holes for a closing round of six-under-par 65 and tournament card of 20-under 264.

That left him two strokes ahead of Geary, who shot the day's best score of 64 to finish on 266.

Playing four groups ahead of the leaders, Geary eagled the par-five 15th to briefly top the leaderboard before bogeying the last then watching on as Eger won the title in some style.

It was Geary's second top-three placing in five outings on the Canadian Tour this season, after he tied for third at the Dakota Dunes Casino Open last month.

Another New Zealander, Brad Heaven, finished in a share of 40th place on 277 after shooting 67 today.
