Michael Collins: Moved to fullback from the midfield and looked assured in everything he did. Lost some weight and was quicker than previous years. Will be haunted by kicking the ball out on the full in the dying stages of the final. 8
Mitchell Scott: Ran hard and popped up all over the park but perhaps just too small and not quite fast enough to cut it at this level.7
Fa'asiu Fuata'i: Came back after missing a year out with injury. He did well when he had the ball and showed some speed. Just needs more game time at this level. 7
Matt Faddes: Has some class but too often made mistakes. Some backline moves ended up with him dying with the ball but that was often not his fault. Needs to go away and have a good rest. 6½
Sio Tomkinson: A player of promise who looks to have all the skills but may lack a point of difference. Good defender. 6½
Tei Walden: Never did anything wrong and worked hard although was run ragged in many games. 7
Fletcher Smith: Started off well and was playing like a veteran. Tapered off towards the end but still a classy operator. Good goalkicking. 7
Scott Eade: Will rue a couple of missed penalties in the final. Has not got much better since he left school. Hard to see how he was better than other pivots playing in the club competition. 6
Jonathan Ruru: Came down from Hawkes Bay and played well in patches. Had a good game in the final. Needs to work on his kicking in general play. 7
Josh Walden: Did well when called into the side just before the season started. 7
Paul Grant: Got around the field and made a lot of tackles. It seems a shame Grant will never play Super rugby, which speaks volumes for the depth in loose forwards in New Zealand rugby. 7
James Lentjes: The experimental laws did not suit Lentjes - or any other openside flanker for that matter - but he adjusted his game and got through a tremendous amount of work. Made 148 tackles - the equal top in the competition. 8
Naulia Dawai: Perhaps not as explosive as last year and took a while for the wheels to start turning but was hard to stop by the end of the season. Good deal to go overseas to Connacht. 7
Lee Allan: Played well when on the paddock but another two concussions cloud his future. 6½
Adam Knight: Did everything that was asked of him when he got his chance. Got knocked out in the first five minutes of the season, which did not help. 6½
Blair Tweed: This was his second season, which sometimes can expose a player. Not Tweed, who got round the field and knocked over people. Coaches at the next level will have noticed. 7
Tom Franklin: Continues to get better. Top notch in every department. Hard to fathom what he did wrong to slip out of All Black reckoning. 8
Josh Dickson: Another season of progress. Still young but cannot be promising for ever. 7
Donald Brighouse: A good effort from the tighthead who has made real progress in the past couple of years. More mobile and was a solid scrummager. 7
Hisa Sasagi: Only played half a season as he smashed his face against Canterbury. Had a year to forget on the injury front. 7
Craig Millar: Millar was as solid as ever. Can cover plenty of metres and always takes the ball up hard. 7
Aki Seiuli: A bung knee when he was coming into his own cut out nearly half of the campaign. Strong with the ball in hand and covered plenty of territory. 7
Sam Anderson-Heather: Probably had his best season in an Otago jersey. Good in the set piece and plenty of running with the ball. Shame he had to miss the final because of a sore calf. 7½
