Britain's government and police say they have agreed to a three-year pay deal that ends an acrimonious months-long dispute.
Thousands of off-duty police officers marched through London earlier this year to protest the government's refusal to backdate a salary increase. They say the move effectively cut their salaries.
Britain's Police Federation had accused Prime Minister Gordon Brown of taking advantage of the officers' inability to strike.
The deal announced Wednesday sets out the terms of a pay settlement for police officers over the next three years, worth 2.65 percent in 2008, 2.6 percent in 2009 and 2.55 percent in 2010.
