The rare 1901 Locomobile has been rebuilt from the remains of the city’s first privately-owned automobile.
It has been rebuilt using as many of the original components as possible, including the engine and petrol tank.
The vehicle has now been commissioned to full working order.
It was fired up this afternoon ahead of this weekend's Great Kiwi Home and Living Show where it will be on display...
The engine is powered by steam pressure from a boiler, which is fired by petrol.
