The vehicle was travelling on the Ngapara-Tokarihi Rd, towards Tokarihi, when it left the road and landed in a creek bed.
Police were called to the crash about 2.45pm, along with fire rescue units from Weston and Oamaru.
The man's name will not be available until next of kin are notified.
