A woman was injured when her car collided with a bus that ran a red light in central Dunedin last night, police said.
The bus driver had been looking ahead to the next set of green lights, and did not see the red light on the corner of Stuart and Cumberland Sts, a police officer at the scene said.
The Ritchies bus, hired for the Local Government New Zealand conference, was carrying two passengers, who were both unhurt, as was the driver.
The bus was heading north when the crash happened about 7.45pm.
The woman suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Dunedin Hospital.
The impact of the crash buckled the front right of the car, and firefighters forced open the driver's door, which took about 15 minutes.
An ambulance officer sat in the passenger seat supporting the woman while she waited.
She was wearing a neck brace but was able to walk when she was freed from the vehicle.
Ritchies Dunedin branch supervisor Iain Campbell, who was at the scene to support the driver, declined to comment.
