Icy, slippery roads made for treacherous driving in Dunedin this morning.

Traffic was backed up on Stuart St after a crash between two cars caused road blockages.

A police spokeswoman said it was called to the scene at 7.42am.

While there were no injuries, some lanes of the road were blocked for a short time, she said.

A tow truck had been called for one of the cars and traffic management was called in.

Police said there was only one crash but the Otago Daily Times is aware of at least three crashes in Stuart St this morning.
