Two people have been injured in a serious crash involving a car and truck.
Emergency services were called to Main South Rd, East Taieri, following reports of a crash between a northbound truck and a southbound car, about 3.30pm.
Fire fighters cut people out of the car, with two patients later taken to Dunedin Hospital.
A St John spokesman said of the men suffered serious injuries while the other had moderate injuries.
One of the occupants told the Otago Daily Times another vehicle was stopped on the highway shortly before the crash.
Diversions remain in place on State Highway One at East Taieri.
Sergeant Ian Temple, of Dunedin, said the diversions had been put in place at Gladfield Rd and the highway, and Riccarton Rd East and the highway.
