Scaffolders take advantage of the warm weather yesterday to assemble a stage in the Octagon ahead of Dunedin’s New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The event is set to begin at 6pm tomorrow and will reach new heights with aerial performers, a midnight laser show and musical entertainment to take the stage and welcome Dunedin residents into 2023.

Dunedin City Council civic and community events adviser Olha Viazenko said three bus routes provided a free and safe way for those participating in the celebration to get home.

Buses will depart Bus Hub A at midnight and 1am to Mosgiel via Green Island and Fairfield.

Buses will depart from Bus Hub B at midnight and 1am for Leith Valley Motor Camp, Gardens Shopping Centre and Highgate.

The Route 3 bus will leave Bus Hub I at midnight and 1.30am for Andersons Bay, South Dunedin and Caversham.
