The waters of Duncan Laing's old stamping ground - Dunedin's Moana Pool - will be stilled tomorrow afternoon as a mark of respect for the coaching great.
The pool will close for three hours, from noon, to allow staff to attend the public commemoration at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin from 1pm.
Laing died on Saturday, aged 77.
Dunedin Mayor Peter Chin said, when contacted, he had discussed arrangements with Laing's family yesterday, and had been invited to speak at tomorrow's service on behalf of the city.
"I'm honoured to do so," he said.
A council forum scheduled for 2pm tomorrow had been delayed until 3.30pm.
