“It’s time for someone fresh to come in,” she said after nearly 10 years heading the Dunedin school.
Ms Miller was on leave, working at the New Zealand Teachers Council, for terms two and three, but would be returning for term four, which would allow the school board time to find a new principal for next year.
There were a few options she was looking at for the future.
One of the key achievements of the school during her time was becoming more diverse, she said.
The school was celebrating its 150th year this year, which was a fitting time to leave, she said.
She believed the school was in good stead.
‘‘I’ve had an amazing 10 years at school, it’s an amazing school,’’ she said.
