No word yet of council's meeting about Stevenson

There is still no word on the fate of Dunedin's allegedly wayward councillor.

Cr Teresa Stevenson's conduct was the subject of a closed-doors discussion at the end of Monday's extraordinary Dunedin City Council meeting, following a code of conduct inquiry in February.

The inquiry followed allegations she leaked to the Otago Daily Times details of a confidential letter about the Awatea St stadium to the Government sent by Mayor Peter Chin and Otago Regional Council chairman Stephen Cairns.

The matter was discussed in the non-public part of Monday's extraordinary council meeting, and a decision reached.

However, the parties involved were still not commenting yesterday, with Mr Chin - who sat out the hearing along with deputy mayor Syd Brown, because of their involvement in the matter - still waiting to be briefed by Cr Paul Hudson, who chaired the meeting.

Mr Chin said when contacted late yesterday he would release a statement "as soon as possible", hopefully this week.

Cr Stevenson also declined to comment yesterday, saying she had been "very strictly told" the matter was confidential.
