Police are urging people to hide their valuables after a man was caught allegedly stealing items from a car early yesterday morning.
Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said police spotted a 28-year-old man interfering with a parked car in Lachlan Ave at 3.15am yesterday morning.
The man was searched and found with multiple items belonging to the owner of the vehicle.
He was also found to be in possession of other items believed to be stolen from other vehicles, including a microphone and an electronic distance measurer.
The man was arrested.
"Police again are urging car owners to take the extra two minutes to remove or hide items of value when parking their vehicles over night, whether it is in your driveway or on the street," Snr Sgt Dinnissen said.
"Taking the items of value out means you are more likely to have them tomorrow when needed."
