Crashes result in minor injuries

Two crashes in Dunedin yesterday afternoon caused a road closure and minor injuries.

A car hit a power pole  in South Rd,  Caversham, near Sidey St at 4.20pm.

Police said the crash caused power lines to fall on the road.  Delta was called to assist.

The section of road was closed and traffic diverted while that work was done.

A St John spokesman said ambulance officers dealt with three patients, two females in their 20s and one child.

All three had minor injuries, and were taken to Dunedin Hospital by ambulance.

Police were also called to a one-car crash at 4.21pm on the Allanton-Waihola Rd,  just south of the Dunedin Airport turnoff.

St  John said one female patient had minor injuries, and was assessed and treated at the scene.

• Two people were taken to Dunedin Hospital with moderate injuries last night after a two-car crash in Waipori Falls Rd.

Police were called just after 7.30pm to the crash about 10km from Berwick, on a blind corner. 

A St John spokesman said two patients with moderate injuries were taken to Dunedin Hospital. No further details were available last night.
