More than 5000 people enjoyed the warm start to the day as they perused 140 stalls on Main South Rd, which was closed to traffic.
Market convener Lee Cheshire said the atmosphere was convivial and happy, and for the first time, some stallholders had already booked for next year.
Buskers entertained the crowd, as did the Green Island School choir.
Proceeds would be given to a community group for a new children’s playground, but they would be less this year.
This was because of a more lenient policy towards the $25 stall charge, which would be reviewed.
Mrs Cheshire, a local business owner, had been running the market for 12 years, and said she could not do it without the support of the community.
