Five morning flights connecting Dunedin to Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland were cancelled at Dunedin International Airport yesterday morning.

Airport chief executive John McCall said there was about 50m of visibility which prevented planes from taking off or landing.

The situation had improved by later in the morning, when the 10.55am flight from Wellington landed, followed by the 11am flight from Auckland.
