Bangladesh’s Victory Day celebrated

Members of the Dunedin Bangladeshi community gather in St John’s Church Hall, in Dunedin, last evening to celebrate the golden anniversary of Bangladesh’s Victory Day.

On December 16, 1971, Pakistani soldiers surrendered to a joint India-Bangladesh force, ending the war of independence and formally making Bangladesh a new nation.

The group took part in children’s activities, a cultural programme and discussion and shared traditional food.
