Last week, association president Phil Dowsett handed over a cheque for $30,000 to add to the $235,000 raised by the association since 2005.
Museum acting director Jennifer Evans said the group's contribution was "fantastic" and would help make the museum "just that wee bit better".
While it had not been decided what the money would be spent on specifically, it would go towards items for the revamped Burnside exhibition area, Ms Evans said.
Project development manager Bronwyn Simes said the redevelopment of the exhibition area had added 1800sq m of exhibition space and a new filtered and double glazed skylight roof.
"We've finally got ourselves to a point of technological advancement where we can filter the glass properly and protect the material inside," she said.
