Not another basketball game:

Settle down. Apart from annual updates of NBA Live and the very smooth NBA 08 for PS3 earlier this year, the hoops genre is hardly crowded.

It's a great sport anyway.

Who's the cover boy?:

That would be Kevin Garnett, the 2.11m power forward for the Boston Celtics, part of the big three that led the storied franchise to a 17th NBA title.

He's very good. He's also a Chelsea football fan.

What's new:

Association 2.0, a deeper and more accessible version of the franchise's long-standing career mode.

Is it better than NBA Live?:

There's no simple answer to that question. You might argue that NBA Live looks swisher, plays smoother and has more cred.

But 2K9 matches up well in virtually every aspect of the game.

What they've said:

"Until NBA 2K10 hits, this will be the best basketball sim you'll ever play."

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
