New Zealand business will have a new home in Shanghai when New Zealand Trade and Enterprise opens its concept centre in October.
Communications director Jennifer Andrewes said the business-to-business centre would help companies build connections, brand visibility and capability to grow their business in China.
With Dunedin being a sister city of Shanghai, Ms Andrewes, formerly of Dunedin, was hopeful the concept centre would appeal to local businesses.
The concept centre would be a taste of New Zealand in downtown Shanghai.
It would be built in the Xintiandi area, said to be the most upmarket retail, leisure and residential precinct in downtown Shanghai.
The modern third-floor site, with an adjoining garden area, would provide good opportunities to showcase the New Zealand brand.
That was particularly important with the Free Trade Agreement between New Zealand and China being signed, she said.
The centre would also include a demonstration kitchen, meeting rooms with smart technology for interactive and multi-media presentations, a lounge area, modern office facilities and Internet access for short market visits, an outdoor hospitality area and guess reception.
Ms Andrewes was appointed communications director earlier this month.
Previously, she was New Zealand Trade and Enterprise corporate communications manager.
