The approval yesterday for the Air New Zealand-Virgin Blue transtasman alliance was one of several factors contributing to a positive 2011 for the national carrier, Forsyth Barr broker Peter Young said.
Transport Minister Steven Joyce has approved an air alliance between Air New Zealand and the Virgin Blue group to operate integrated transtasman services.
The approval from this country, in addition to the recent authorisation from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, meant Air New Zealand and Virgin Blue would be able to work together on the services and fares they offer on transtasman services.
Mr Young said he expected further growth from long-haul visitor arrivals over the next few years, the introduction of the new aircraft and the 2011 Rugby World Cup to help boost passenger numbers for Air NZ between July and November next year.
