Bridge over Lowburn water

The next step in the development of the marina at Perriam Cove at Lowburn was taken yesterday with the placing of the bridge across the inlet waterway.

The bridge is a real lower South Island affair with Oamaru company Gillies rolling the steel which was then sent to Invercargill Engineering to be boxed and built in two pieces and then transported back to Cromwell by truck.

Smith Crane from Queenstown had the task of lifting and positioning the 15-tonne structure and the operation went like clockwork.

The bridge will provide access across the inlet for people walking around Lake Dunstan as well as giving residents easy passage to the other side of the marina.
