St Peter's College have kicked off their Highlanders First XV campaign with a win today.
Having moved into the competition after Dunedin's Kavanagh College withdrew, St Peter's beat local rivals Gore High School 17-6 in their first match this afternoon.
In the day's closest matches, Otago Boys' squeaked to a 12-10 win over Southland Boys and Verdon College had an even narrower victory, 11-10 over Mt Aspiring.
Elsewhere, Dunstan beat Waitaki Boys' 41-8, King's accounted for South Otago High 36-12, John McGlashan trounced Menzies College 52-8, and St Kevin's beat James Hargest 31-10.
