The seeds of an enduring partnership between Milton Primary School and the Sinclair Wetlands Trust were planted when trust co-ordinator Glen Riley visited the school last week.
Mr Riley was helped by several international student volunteers, who are staying at the Sinclair Wetlands for two weeks.
The visit follows a trip to the wetlands, near Lake Waihola, where the children learnt about sustainability by planting trees and taking part in other activities.
The pupils planted wetlands seeds in pots and were given seedlings which they will nurture at the school for planting at the wetlands next year.
