Specialist search teams and community volunteers are out in force on day four of the hunt for missing Upper Hutt woman Mary Berrington.

Berrington, who has a mental illness, was reported missing on Wednesday and since then police, Land Search and Rescue (LandSAR) teams and community volunteers have completed wide searches in the Upper Hutt area.

The police said today that a search for items of interest in and around the Hutt River would be completed. LandSAR, Upper Hutt Community Rescue and police search teams would focus on visiting properties in the suburbs surrounding Berrington's home on Fergusson Drive which were inaccessible yesterday.

Police have renewed their call for people to report any sightings of women matching Berrington's description in the Upper Hutt area.
