A woman was rescued from the Auckland Islands by helicopter last night.
The woman arrived at Southland Hospital in Invercargill on an Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter shortly after 9pm.
A Southern Lakes Helicopters spokeswoman said it was understood the female patient had originally been on a ship in the waters around the Auckland Islands, and had been transferred to a helicopter at Sandy Bay, Enderby Island.
The spokeswoman believed the woman's husband was flown with her to Invergcargill.
